LayoffLink — real referrals from real people, across every industry

A layoff is a moment. Your career is a journey.

200+

Applications, most people send before giving up.

Into portals that were never going to route them to a human.

~1 in 50

Warm referrals, by contrast, land an interview at roughly this rate — far better odds than a cold apply.

Referrals aren't a nice-to-have in tech hiring. They're the fast lane.

People you know at most of the companies you actually want.

Which is the entire, specific problem LayoffLink exists to solve.

Why we exist

Today it's someone else.
Tomorrow it could be any one of us.

This platform exists because layoffs can happen to anyone, regardless of experience or designation. We believe professionals should help professionals. Instead of competing, we can support each other.

Together, we can reduce the impact of layoffs and help talented people return to work faster.

Built by people who've been there.

LayoffLink started the way most of this does — someone on the team got laid off, sent two hundred applications into nothing, and finally got their next interview because one person was willing to make an introduction. We built the tool we wished had existed.

Where we're headed

Our Year 1 targets, out loud.

We're not there yet. These are the numbers that would mean this loop is actually working — publishing them keeps us honest about the gap.

Target340Candidates registered
Target210Referrals shared
Target89Interviews landed
Target14Candidates hired
Target60Companies participating
Target130Active referrers
Target95Jobs posted
Target42%Referral success rate

Not live yet — these are goals, not a counter. Real numbers replace these the moment we have them. See the roadmap below for what's actually shipped today.

Why refer someone

The bonus is the excuse. This is the reason.

Referring isn't charity — it's a genuinely good trade for the person doing it, too.

Help deserving professionals

You already know how hard it is to get a foot in the door with a resume alone. A referral is the fastest way to change that for someone.

Expand your professional network

Every candidate you help is someone who now knows you, and remembers it. Networks compound in both directions.

Increase community trust

A platform where people actually follow through builds a reputation — and that reputation is what makes the next referral easier too.

Build your personal brand

Being known as someone who opens doors for others is a reputation that outlasts any single job or company.

Support people in transition

A layoff is disorienting. Being the person who shows up during that window means more than most people ever say out loud.

Create a culture of giving back

Every referral you give makes it a little more normal for the next person to do the same. That's how the culture actually shifts.

Safety & trust

Your data, your control.

A stranger-to-stranger referral network only works if it's safe to use. Here's what that actually means in practice.

Private by default

Your layoff date and resume are never shown until you choose to share them with a specific match.

You choose who sees your name

Stay anonymous until you decide to reveal your identity — that toggle is real, and it's the first thing you set on Gate A.

No one should ask you for money

LayoffLink will never encourage candidates to pay recruiters for employment. Referrals, mock interviews, and introductions here are free. If anyone asks you to pay, report it.

Verified Recruiter / Verified Professional

Referrers and organizations confirm who they are and where they work before they can see a candidate profile — look for the verified badge.

Report or block, any time

Every job, profile, and message can be reported. You can block anyone, permanently, from your own account controls — no explanation required.

Your contact info, your call

Phone numbers and personal email are never shown to anyone without your explicit permission — full visibility controls live in your profile settings.

Read our privacy policy for the full detail on how your data is handled.

Questions before you jump in

Straight answers, no sales pitch.

Is LayoffLink free?

Yes. It's free for candidates, referrers, and organizations. We don't take a cut of any referral bonus you're paid.

Do I need a warm intro already?

No — that's the entire point. Build a profile on Gate A and we hand-match you with a referrer who can vouch for you, even if you've never met them.

What happens to my resume?

It stays private by default. Only the specific referrer or organization you're matched with can see it, and you control whether your name is attached or you stay anonymous until you choose to share it.

How is this different from LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a directory you search yourself. LayoffLink is a hand-matching service — a real person looks at your profile and actively tries to connect you with someone who can refer you in, instead of leaving you to cold-message strangers.

What if I don't get referred?

There's no guarantee, and we won't pretend otherwise. Your profile stays active, and Radar and the community keep working in the background while you wait.

Still unsure? Email us — a real person reads it.

Early stories

People who are already here.

We're new. These are a few of the first hand-matches — proof this works before we ask you to trust it at scale.

Roadmap, honestly

What we're building, and what we're not — yet.

We'd rather be great at one thing than mediocre at four. So for now, everything is in service of one loop: a stranger's referral turning into a stranger's interview.

Live now

  • LIVE Candidate, referrer & organization profiles
  • LIVE Hand-matching, by a real person
  • LIVE Radar — layoff news feed

Phase 4 — later, on purpose

  • LATER Charter — paid 1:1 consulting
  • LATER Flight Plans — a business idea board
  • LATER Altitude Points — gamified standing
  • LATER A live, open community feed

The number we're actually chasing

Not signups. Not page views. The number of strangers, referred by strangers, who turned that referral into a real interview. Everything above exists to move this number, as cheaply and honestly as we can find out.
