Privacy Policy
Version 2.2.4 · last updated August 9, 2026
LayoffLink exists to help people between jobs get a real referral, without a hiring pipeline's usual friction. That only works if you trust us with your information, so here's a straight account of what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Profile information you give us on Gate A, Gate B, or Gate C — name (optional, if you choose to share it), target role, skills, resume, company, and similar fields specific to each onboarding flow.
- Account information, such as your email and password, since accounts on LayoffLink are real and persist across devices.
- Usage information, like which jobs you view or save, so the dashboard can work.
- Contact information if you email us directly.
- Log and device data, such as browser type, pages visited, and referring URL, collected automatically when you use the site.
Cookies and similar technologies
LayoffLink uses cookies and similar technologies for a few purposes: keeping you signed in, remembering preferences, and understanding how the site is used through analytics. Some cookies are set by us directly ("first-party"); others are set by third-party services we use, described below.
Advertising and third-party vendors
LayoffLink displays advertising served by Google, including through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on a user's visits to this site and other sites on the internet. This may include personalized advertising based on your prior browsing activity.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings.
- You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- More detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services is available at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to third parties.
- We don't show your name or resume to anyone until you choose to share it with a specific match.
- We don't charge you, or take a cut of any referral bonus you receive.
How matching works
In this early phase, matches are made by hand by a real person on the LayoffLink team who reviews your profile alongside available referrers and roles. Your information is visible to that person, and — once you consent to a specific match — to the referrer or organization you're being connected with.
Where your data actually lives
Your account, password, profile, resume, and job activity are stored on our server (a WordPress database), not just in your browser — they're tied to your account and available whenever you log back in, from any device. A small amount of local browser state (like saved filters) may still live in localStorage for convenience, but nothing account-related depends on it.
Children's privacy
LayoffLink is intended for working adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
- You can stay anonymous until you choose to reveal your identity to a match.
- You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing us.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising using the links above.
- If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated version number and date.
