Why this exists
Most people here are posting in the middle of a layoff, a job search, or a career pivot — often while stressed, discouraged, or between paychecks. The Forum and Community Board only work if people can be honest here without it costing them somewhere else. That's the bar every rule below is trying to protect.
Expected of everyone
- Be specific and useful. "Any advice?" gets fewer real answers than "I'm a mid-level PM in fintech, laid off 3 weeks ago — how are people finding warm intros right now?"
- Assume good faith. Most people posting a rough day, a blunt question, or an unpopular opinion aren't trying to start a fight.
- Respect anonymity. Many candidates post without revealing their identity until they choose to. Don't try to identify, out, or screenshot someone who's posting anonymously.
- Keep it on-topic. Career advice, interview experiences, company/culture insight, referrals and networking, and real success stories — that's what these categories are for.
Not allowed
- Harassment, personal attacks, or targeting someone based on who they are rather than what they said
- Doxxing — sharing someone else's real name, employer, or contact details without their consent, especially over an anonymous post
- Spam, unsolicited sales pitches, or recruiting outside the platform's real referral/job-posting features
- Asking for or offering payment for a referral, interview, or introduction — LayoffLink is free, and any "pay to get referred" offer is against both these guidelines and the platform's own terms
- Impersonating LayoffLink staff, a specific company, or another member
- Posting someone else's resume, private messages, or personal information without their permission
- Content that's illegal, deceptive, or knowingly false (e.g. fabricated layoff news, fake job postings)
How moderation works today
At this stage, moderation is reactive, not automated — a real person reviews reports and removes content or accounts that cross the lines above. There's no published SLA yet for how fast that happens; we're an early-stage platform and are upfront about that rather than promising a response time we can't guarantee.
Reporting a problem
