Job Description

Ferrocore Electronics is hiring a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to design and debug firmware for industrial IoT sensor devices deployed in harsh field environments. You will write and maintain C/C++ firmware running on RTOS, working close to the metal where timing and memory constraints actually matter, not abstracted away behind a framework. You will debug hardware-software interaction issues directly at the PCB level, using an oscilloscope and logic analyzer as comfortably as an IDE, and you will implement and troubleshoot communication protocols including I2C and SPI when devices talk to each other unreliably in the field. You will work closely with hardware engineers during bring-up of new device revisions, often being the first person to get a fresh board actually doing something useful, and you will own firmware test coverage for released products so regressions get caught before they ship to customers who are hard to reach for updates. Expect to spend real time in the lab, not just at a desk, and to be pulled in when a device is misbehaving in a way nobody can explain from logs alone. Deep, hands-on experience with microcontroller-level debugging is required, this is not a role for someone who has only worked at the application layer.
