What is LayoffLink?
LayoffLink is a free service that hand-matches recently laid-off candidates with referrers and organizations who can refer them into a role — a real person on the team reviews profiles and makes the introduction, rather than leaving you to cold-message strangers.
Who is LayoffLink for?
Three groups: candidates who recently lost a job, referrers who currently work somewhere and are willing to refer people in, and organizations/recruiters with open roles.
How is this different from LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is a directory you search yourself. LayoffLink is a hand-matching service — a real person looks at your profile and actively tries to connect you with someone who can refer you in, instead of leaving you to cold-message strangers.
Does LayoffLink guarantee a job or interview?
No. LayoffLink facilitates introductions — it does not guarantee an interview, referral, or job offer, and is not a staffing agency, recruiter-of-record, employer, or bank.
Account
How do I create an account?
Choose Gate A (candidate), Gate B (referrer), or Gate C (organization) from the homepage, sign up with your email and a password, and verify your email with the code we send.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
Use the "Forgot password" link on the login page. We'll email you a real reset link.
Can I change my account details later?
Yes — update your profile any time from your dashboard.
How do I delete my account?
Email us and we'll process the deletion — see our Privacy Policy for details on what "delete" covers.

How does matching work?
In this early phase, matches are made by hand by a real person on the LayoffLink team, who reviews your profile alongside available referrers and roles.
Can I apply to jobs directly?
Yes — real jobs posted by organizations or referrers appear on the Referral Dashboard, and candidates with a resume on file can apply directly; LayoffLink emails your resume to the poster and sends you a confirmation.
What is the Community Board?
A place for any logged-in member to post a request (e.g. "Looking for Project Manager role leads") — other members can reply, and we send a real email to connect you.
Pricing
Is LayoffLink free?
Yes — entirely free for candidates, referrers, and organizations.
Privacy
Who can see my profile?
You can stay anonymous until you choose to reveal your identity to a specific match. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Do you sell my data?
No — we don't sell your data to third parties.
Security
How is my password stored?
Through WordPress's standard password hashing — we never store or see your password in plain text.
How do I report a security issue?
Email us directly — see our Security page for details on responsible disclosure.

Something on the site isn't working — what do I do?
Visit our Help & Support page, or email us directly with what you were doing and what went wrong.
The site looks broken on my phone — is that expected?
It shouldn't. LayoffLink is built to work on phones, tablets, and desktops — if something looks off, please report it so we can fix it.
Billing/Payments
Do you charge any fees?
No. We don't charge fees and we don't take a percentage of any referral bonus you receive.
Someone claiming to be LayoffLink asked me for payment — is that real?
No. If anyone claims otherwise while using our name, it isn't us — please report it to us immediately.
Cancellation/Refunds
How do I cancel my account?
Since LayoffLink is free, there's no subscription to cancel — just email us to have your account deleted.
Are refunds available?
LayoffLink doesn't charge for anything, so there's nothing to refund.
